Wheesung Opens Up About His Controversy With Amy In New Interview

Wheesung spoke about his recent controversy with Amy in a new interview.

On April 16, Amy revealed on Instagram that a close celebrity friend allegedly took drugs with her, begged her to take the blame, and planned to blackmail her with sexual footage. Netizens suspected Wheesung to be this friend, and his agency denied all allegations. Wheesung then shared a recording of a phone call between him, Amy, and another acquaintance that cleared up the misunderstandings, and Amy eventually apologized for the controversy on May 22.

On May 25, the singer told news outlet Edaily, “I decided to speak out for the people who trust and support me. It was such a difficult and painful time, but I’m relieved that the misunderstanding could be cleared even if it was a bit late. The misunderstanding could’ve been cleared easily if both people were in Korea and frequently spoke with one another other, but I think that misunderstanding grew after Amy went overseas and we didn’t speak for a long time.”

He continued, “I endured difficult times due to the sudden situation and received a big shock, but I also learned that there was a process of misunderstanding that I hadn’t thought about. During the long time of misunderstanding, I think that Amy was also a victim and I’m trying to understand her.”

Wheesung added, “I’m going to return to my original position and occupation as a musician, and I plan to immerse myself in my promotions. I want to thank my fans who trusted me and gave me strength. I’ll return with more mature, good music.”
