Super Junior's Kyuhyun Exposes Kang Ho Dong's Businesslike Approach To Friendship

Super Junior’s Kyuhyun spilled the tea on Kang Ho Dong on JTBC’s “Ask Us Anything.”

On the May 25 broadcast, Kyuhyun made his triumphant variety show return after being discharged from the military.

Kyuhyun began, “This is my first variety show in terms of the first show that will air on TV. I went to record ‘Kang’s Kitchen’ first.”

Kang Ho Dong chimed in, saying, “There’s a behind story. As soon as Kyuyhun was discharged from the military, the broadcasting industry was in a war to cast Kyuhyun. His popularity is no joke right now and [offers] are flooding in. I think that he chose ‘Ask Us Anything’ amidst that because Kang Ho Dong is here. That’s what I think, so please tell us the specifics.”

Before Kyuhyun could explain, Kim Young Chul asked, “Kyuhyun, you know Lee Seung Gi, whom [Kang Ho Dong] calls his younger brother, right? When Lee Seung Gi went to the military, he called him once!” The Super Junior member was surprised to hear this and questioned the story.

When asked if he spoke with Kang Ho Dong on the phone during his military service, Kyuhyun replied, “After I started my military service, I saw Kang Ho Dong for the first time at ‘Kang’s Kitchen.’ I did talk to him on the phone, but it was when I briefly interjected during Kim Heechul‘s conversation with him. I was spending a day off with Ahn Jae Hyun and talked [to Kang Ho Dong] again by interjecting then.”

Lee Soo Geun added, “Kang Ho Dong doesn’t usually send group text messages, but he sent one a few days ago saying that we should gather at his house in June. The members included people like Lee Soo Geun, Lee Seung Gi, and Kim Jong Min. When I asked about Kyuhyun, he replied, ‘Must I?'” Kyuhyun paced around the set laughing and waved goodbye to Kang Ho Dong to express his feeling of betrayal.

Seo Jang Hoon asked, “Wait a minute. Don’t you guys go to film ‘New Journey to the West‘ for 10 days? You guys have gone on 10-day trips a few times now. We [on ‘Ask Us Anything’] have been filming every week for four years, but how come you don’t ask us to eat at your house? What are we to you?” This made Kang Ho Dong spit out the water he was drinking on Lee Soo Geun, and the cast burst into laughter.
