Lee Hi Talks About Akdong Musician’s Lee Chan Hyuk And His Military Discharge + Her Upcoming Album

Lee Hi shared her thoughts on Akdong Musician’s Lee Chan Hyuk and his military discharge, as well as her hopes for her upcoming mini album in a recent interview.

When asked about her labelmate Lee Chan Hyuk and his recent discharge from the military, she laughed and shared, “His time in the military felt very short. It somehow feels like he got discharged quickly. It really feels like it hasn’t been that long since he enlisted. When I met him when he was on leave, I asked him, ‘When are you going to be discharged?’ He told me, ‘In a few months.’ It feels like a long time has passed since then, but he’s already out.”

Lee Hi talked about meeting up with Lee Chan Hyuk right after his discharge, saying, “I wanted to congratulate him, but he got sleepy really early. It was 10 p.m., but I think it’s because he would have been sleeping at that time [based on his lifestyle in the military].”

The singer will be releasing her new mini album “24℃,” her first comeback in three years since the release of “SEOULITE” in April 2016. In the title track “No One,” Lee Hi’s soulful voice will create a new, strange feeling as it conveys the inability to cope with loneliness and the bleak heart of finding someone. The track was inspired by veteran blues singer Han Young Ae’s song of the same title, and she was supported by iKON’s B.I.’s featuring and his self-written rap.

On whether or not the album would be a success, Lee Hi shared, “Good results on music charts are important, but I’m trying to focus on what I’m doing. I’m less anxious than when I released my previous album. I’m trying to be at ease.”

She laughed and remarked, “I try to think solely about the fact that there are many fans waiting for my music. There are a lot of fans who have seen me since I was young, so I think I will [consider it a success] if they say, ‘She’s grown up well.'”

Lee Hi’s mini album “24℃” will be released on May 30 at 6 p.m. KST.
