Stars Celebrate Korean Soccer Team's First Time Placing 2nd In FIFA World Cup

Several celebrities have taken to social media to congratulate the Korean soccer team on the new record they broke!

On June 16 KST, the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup’s final match took place between South Korea and Ukraine. Ukraine won the match with a final score of 3 to 1 and became the champions of the tournament. Despite losing the game, South Koreans celebrated the moment as it was the first time that the Korean national soccer team finished as runners-up in any tournament hosted by FIFA. Korean soccer athlete Lee Kang In was also awarded the Golden Ball, which is given to the MVP of the tournament.

Kim Sohye shared a photo of herself in the Korean national team’s uniform and said, “U-20 World Cup second place!!! Everyone worked really hard!! #HappyTimes #ThankYou.”

Yoon Eun Hye shared a video and captioned it, “The dream-like U-20 World Cup has come to an end! I send support and claps to each and every player who fought until the end~ I’m looking forward to a more amazing future.”

In another post, she wrote, “Golden Ball”!!! I am~!! Proud!!”

Actor Han Sang Jin shared how happy he felt to be alive to see Korea’s first ever experience in the World Cup finals and congratulated Ukraine on their win.

Kim Soo Ro, a well-known fan of soccer who even has his own soccer variety show, wrote on his Instagram, “Thanks [to the Korean team], I had such a joyful time. You’re already extremely amazing. Truly, congratulations on second place. Korean soccer fighting! Hooray! Hip hip hooray! Korean soccer is already the best!!!!”

Han Seung Yeon shared, “Second place!!! Thank you, congratulations! You grew up well! Thank you! Wow, U-20 #Korea finished second!!! Proud of you guys, don’t cry.”

Lastly, Ryu Jun Yeol took to his Instagram Stories to write, “You worked hard!!! Respect!”

Congratulations to the Korean national under-20 soccer team on their achievement!


DIA uploaded a handwritten message to the soccer team! They wrote, “Hello, this is DIA. To the Korean national soccer team’s athletes and coach Jung Kyung Yong, you worked so, so hard! DIA will continue to cheer you on. Korean soccer, fighting!”
