Watch: PENTAGON Adds A Powerful And Energetic Twist To Classic Song On "Immortal Songs"

The June 22 episode of KBS’s “Immortal Songs” was centered around music producer and lyricist Kim Jin Ryong.

Performers for this episode included Kim Yong Jin, Kassy, Yook Joong Wan Band, PENTAGON, SBSB (Sweet Sorrow & The Barberettes), and DUETTO.

In the pre-performance interview, PENTAGON’s leader Hui shared the group’s ambition by saying, “We came here to win.” Hongseok added, “My dream is that one singer will take five consecutive wins and then we’ll come in at the end and sweep the final win.”

Kino also shared that he was a fan of Sweet Sorrow and had taken a photo with them at a café during his trainee days. One of the Sweet Sorrow members made a sound of recognition in response, but the MCs and guests called him out for pretending. However, Sweet Sorrow recovered by saying, “Not a lot of people who look like idols ask us for autographs [so I remember him].”

Things wrapped up warmly when Kino and Sweet Sorrow shared an embrace, but when the MCs asked about today’s performance, Kino made everyone laugh by saying firmly, “We have to win, of course.”

PENTAGON chose to cover one of Kim Jin Ryong’s most famous works, “A Little Greedy Girl,” which was originally sung by Shim Shin. Yeo One said, “We have confidence in our choice because when I was humming the song while getting my hair done, the hair stylist was like, ‘This song was really popular in my day.'” Jinho also talked about Shim Shin’s trademark charisma, which included wearing sunglasses and making finger gun gestures.
