Prosecution Announces Decision Not To Appeal Park Yoochun's Sentence

July 2, Park Yoochun was released from detention after being given a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years of probation and treatment. This means that in the event he commits an offense during his two-year probationary period, he will serve 10 months in prison. Park Yoochun was also fined 1.4 million won (approximately $1,200).

July 8, the prosecution revealed that they would not be appealing the sentence. They stated that they reached the decision in consideration of the fact that the sentence is more than half of what they had requested (18 months in prison) and that it is Park Yoochun’s first drug-related offense.

If Park Yoochun does not appeal, the sentence will hold. The deadline to appeal is July 9.
