Watch: D1CE’s Woo Jin Young Aims For Redemption On “Show Me The Money 8”
D1CE’s Woo Jin Young showed that he wouldn’t back down in the face of past struggles with his audition for “Show Me The Money 8”!
The rapper opened up about his rocky road to debut on the first episode of the Mnet program. He previously appeared on “Produce 101 Season 2” and finished in first place on JTBC’s “MIXNINE,” only for plans for the final group to be cancelled.
Woo Jin Young had been eliminated by Mad Clown in the first round of auditions for “Show Me The Money 8,” but was given a second chance thanks to a new rule that allows for eliminated contestants to be reevaluated by a different producer.
He was reevaluated and advanced to the second round by Millic on the August 2 broadcast. However, because of a cold, he was unable to perform in top condition for his 60-second audition in front of the judges and was ultimately eliminated again.
Swings commented about his performance, “If your vocalization was a bit tighter, it would have been a lot better.” The other producers expressed their disappointment and said that he could have done better if it weren’t for his sore throat. Kid Milli stated, “It was a shame. He seemed to have a lot of talent.”
In an interview afterwards, Woo Jin Young teared up as he said, “I thought I would make it if I put my all into it.” A producer commented, “It’s another repeat mark,” and he replied, “That’s the most upsetting part. Whenever I try to show something, it goes wrong. I think of the people who are cheering me on, like my family.”
Although Woo Jin Young’s “Show Me The Money” story ends here, he recently made his long-awaited debut with D1CE! Check out the MV here.
