Hyun Bin Reveals He Wanted To Act With Son Ye Jin Again After Their Movie

Hyun Bin was chosen as the cover model for the September issue of Esquire, and he talked about his upcoming drama “Crash Landing of Love” (tentative title) in an accompanying interview.

Hyun Bin arrived at the studio explaining that he got a tan for the drama, where he plays a North Korean army officer. He revealed that the drama will begin filming soon.

“Crash Landing of Love” is written by Park Ji Eun, who penned hit dramas “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” “My Love From the Star,” “My Husband Got a Family,” and more. Through the drama, Hyun Bin will be acting with Son Ye Jin for the second time after their 2018 film “The Negotiation.”

He explained how it felt to work with her for the movie, saying, “There are times when I feel great charm and thrill from seeing the actor opposite me show unexpected acting. There’s also a thrill to my own reaction to that acting. While filming ‘The Negotiation,’ I saw that in Son Ye Jin, so I thought, ‘I want to try working with her again.’ At the time, [we had filmed separately], so I wanted to try acting with her in the same space, making eye contact, and breathing the same air, and that opportunity came quickly.”

In an interview from 2009, Hyun Bin had predicted, “I think my 30s will be my prime, and I think I’ll have my own family and settle down.” Asked if he thought his prediction had been accurate, the actor shared while laughing, “I don’t have my own family, so half of it was wrong. I wouldn’t say I’ve settled down, but I do think I’ve found stability. I think I’ve become stronger and more relaxed. I’m more curious and interested in work, and there are more things I want to express. I’m also working on more projects than I did back then.”

True to his words, Hyun Bin has been taking on at least two projects each year since his return from the military. Though he’s known for his abilities in the romance genre, he has also been acting in films and dramas of various other genres. Asked why he challenges himself instead of taking the safe path, he said, “I wouldn’t say I dwell on [fame], but it’s not a central aspect. With this job though, it’s not something you can ignore. But it’s not something you can achieve by trying, so I believe it’s outside the boundaries of the things I can control. I think I should just focus on what it is that I can do. Then it gets simple. ‘All I have to do is prepare well and show good acting.'”
