BTS, TWICE, Kim Junsu, And More Awarded Hallyu Culture Daesang At 2019 K-Expo

The Newsis 2019 K-Expo was held on August 23 in Seoul.

At the event, artists, dramas, and films were awarded the Hallyu Culture Daesang.

BTS won the Hallyu Culture Daesang – Seoul Mayor Award (group). Although they are currently on an extended period of rest and were not in attendance, the group shared their acceptance speech through a video.

RM began, “We are sincerely honored to win the Hallyu Star Daesang at the 2019 Newsis K-Expo, which is being held for the first time this year.”

Jungkook continued, “Unfortunately, we are expressing our gratitude through a video instead. Although we could not attend, we want to express our gratitude to everyone at this event.”

Jin spoke, “We received an overwhelming amount of love this year, and it is such an honor to receive a valuable award like this. Thank you to the fans who cheer us on, the staff who work hard for us, producer Bang Shi Hyuk, and our members.”

“We are especially very thankful to our ARMY, who send us endless love and support, and we love you. We also want to express gratitude to all of the worldwide fans of Korean culture and K-pop,” Jimin added, and J-Hope said, “Through this opportunity, we also want to thank the many people who work hard to spread hallyu.”

V commented, “As we have received the Hallyu Star Daesang, we will work hard with responsibility so more people can gain interest in hallyu.

Suga concluded, “Please continue to support and look out for BTS.”

JYJ’s Kim Junsu was awarded the Hallyu Culture Daesang – Seoul Mayor Award (individual) for his achievements as both a singer and musical actor.

His agency C-JeS Entertainment shared photos of him at the event, and he also shared his thoughts on his personal Instagram.

Kim Junsu wrote, “I believe I was able to win this great Hallyu Culture Daesang – Seoul Mayor Award due to the love of theatergoers and fans. I sincerely thank you. I want to share this honor and happiness with all of the people in the musical business who contribute to Korea’s original musicals.”

TWICE won the Hallyu Culture Daesang – Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award. Members Dahyun and Tzuyu attended the event, and the group’s official Twitter account shared photos and thanked TWICE’s fans ONCE.

The “Along with the Gods” series and Netflix drama “Kingdom” were awarded the National Assembly’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee Award. Director Kim Yonghwa accepted the award on behalf of “Along with the Gods,” while production company AStory’s CEO Lee Sang Baek was in attendance for “Kingdom.”
