“When The Camellia Blooms” Reveals Relationship Chart Of Main Characters

KBS 2TV’s “When the Camellia Blooms” tells the story of three couples in different stages of love.

On September 18, the drama shared a relationship chart explaining the connection between each character.

The poster starts with lawyer Hong Ja Young (played by Yeom Hye Ran) and her husband and optician Noh Kyu Tae (played by Oh Jung Se). She is cautious of Dong Baek (played by Gong Hyo Jin) while Noh Kyu Tae is in favor of her.

Professional baseball player Kang Jong Ryul (played by Kim Ji Suk) is married to social media star Jessica (played by Ji Yi Soo), and the father of their daughter Rebecca. Meanwhile, Kang Jong Ryul and Dong Baek are uncertain about their feelings for one another with questions surrounding their relationship.

Choi Hyang Mi (played by Son Dam Bi) is a part-time worker at Dong Baek’s store Camellia, and Pil Goo (played by Kim Kang Hoon) is Dong Baek’s son.

Police officer Hwang Yong Sik (played by Kang Ha Neul) has a romantic interest in Dong Baek, but her feelings for him are undecided as of yet. His mother, Kwak Duk Soon (played by Go Doo Shim), is a friend of Dong Baek and the leader of the neighborhood.

A harum-scarum, mysterious character is a serial killer on the loose who’s threatening Dong Baek and being chased by Hwang Yong Shik and the other police officers of the Ongsan Police Station.

The three couples also described the different stages of love as well as the point to watch in “When the Camellia Blooms.”

Gong Hyo Jin and Kang Ha Neul’s awkward but heart-fluttering relationship

Gong Hyo Jin plays Dong Baek, a woman who knows how to give love although she’s never properly received it herself. “It’s a drama that will warm everyone’s hearts,” began the actress. “It’s a rich drama that makes your heart flutter, makes you choke up for some reason, and also has laughter and tears.”

Kang Ha Neul plays Yong Shik who has strong, old-fashioned charms. He stated, “At a time when people miss humanism more than anything, I’m trying to [portray love] in a bit more countrified, honest, and realistic way. There’s also an exciting thriller [aspect] that’s different from what you may have imagined. You can experience a lovey-dovey romance, comedic moments in between, and exciting thrills. You won’t regret it.”

Kim Ji Suk and Ji Yi Soo’s fierce and lovely relationship

Kim Ji Suk and Ji Eui Soo will portray baseball star Kang Jong Ryul and social media star Jessica, respectively. This celebrity couple chose relatability as the point to watch out for in the drama.

Kang Jong Ryul will find himself in a headache-inducing situation when his first love Dong Baek appears in his life again. He said, “You’ll relate to Jong Ryul’s realistic, honest emotions. I think it’ll also remind you of memories with your ex.”

Ji Yi Soo added, “It’s a drama where you’ll think about the moment when you loved [someone] while your heart was fluttering, and you’ll be able to feel the longing and affection for everyone you love including your family.” They also brought up the thriller aspect and asked for viewers to watch the characters with warmth.

Oh Jung Se and Yeom Hye Ran’s fun relationship

Oh Jung Se and Yeom Hye Ran will add fun to the drama with their portrayal of optician Noh Kyu Tae and lawyer Hong Ja Young. They chose the humane, lovely characters as the point to watch in the drama.

Yum Hye Ran explained, “It makes you think about human affection that you may have forgotten about while living life, and makes you remember noble and pure love as well. There’s not a single character that’s not lovable.” Oh Jung Se stated, “Kyu Tae, who’s nosy and full of bluffs, is like a child who wants to get attention and is likable.”

They added, “It’s a warm drama that is moving, but also has sudden laughter. It’ll be twice as fun if you watch it with peanuts instead of popcorn.”

“When the Camellia Blooms” airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 p.m. KST.
