'Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung' Cast Shares Thoughts Following End Of Drama

The cast of MBC’s “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” has shared a few thoughts following the conclusion of the drama!

“Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” tells the romance between an aspiring palace historian named Goo Hae Ryung (Shin Se Kyung), who dreams of an equal society, and a lonely prince named Lee Rim (Cha Eun Woo), who lives a secret life as a popular romance novelist. The drama aired its final episode on September 26, ending in success with a boost in viewership ratings from its penultimate episode.

Cha Eun Woo said, “It feels like only a few days ago when I felt excited and nervous by imagining the character Lee Rim while looking at the synopsis and script, but the time has already come for me to say my goodbye.” He continued, “I wanted to deliver the story of Lee Rim well because the character meant a lot and was special to me. I have personal regrets, but I worked hard while wishing viewers would relate to and love Lee Rim. I think the happy and warm memories I gained by meeting Lee Rim will last in my heart for a long time.”

Cha Eun Woo added, “I sincerely thank the director, writers, staff members, and all actors with whom I shared happy memories while crying, laughing, and sweating together during the hot summer days.” He concluded, “‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung’ left me many things. I gained the energy to move forward and the confidence to become stronger because of the many things I saw, heard, felt, and learned while filming the drama. I will try my best to show you my growth and improvement, as Lee Rim, who lacked things in every aspect, was able to grow by figuring out and understanding his true self. I ask that you look forward to seeing [my growth].” At the end, Cha Eun Woo also thanked viewers and Aroha, ASTRO’s fandom. He also shared a few photos from behind the scenes of the drama on his Instagram.

Shin Se Kyung shared, “It was different from other historical dramas I starred in the past. The drama allowed viewers to have a unique imagination of a woman living in the Joseon dynasty who worked at a public office. I expected it to be a lot different than other historical dramas. I worked hard to break my stereotype about how women were during that time period. I also thought, ‘Just do it comfortably,’ but it wasn’t as easy as I thought.”

The actress also stated, “I did not have high expectations for viewership ratings. I liked the intention and color that ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung’ carried from the beginning, and I thought, ‘It would be great if we could go on without losing this.’ In that sense, I’m very satisfied. I was able to realize that I definitely feel happy when I star in a drama that shares my personal values. Because my job requires me to stand in front the public, I cannot say that materialistic success is not important. However, I would love to continue to star in projects like this in the future.”

On her Instagram, Shin Se Kyung said, “Thank you everyone who cherished Goo Hae Ryung. Furthermore, our ‘Goo Hae Ryung’ team with whom I worked for a long time and rejoiced together with! I will miss you! I love you.”

Park Ki Woong took to his Instagram and shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the drama. The actor said, “‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung’ has ended! I send my infinite gratitude to everyone who showed love for the drama. It was an honor [to work with] all staff members and actors!”

Lee Ji Hoon stated through his agency, “I sincerely thank viewers who showed support for ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung.’ I was glad to have been able to join such a great project with the best director, writers, staff members, and actors.” He concluded, “‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung’ was a drama that helped me grow. I will pay back all the things I learned through the drama with improved acting.”
