Gong Hyo Jin Jokingly Compares Her Current Co-Stars And Responds To Being A Popular Pick Among Actors

Actress Gong Hyo Jin recently sat down for an interview to talk about her two current projects, the romantic comedy film “The Most Ordinary Love” and the KBS drama “When the Camellia Blooms.”

The film, which co-stars Kim Rae Won, recently surpassed 2 million moviegoers, while the drama, which co-stars Kang Ha Neul, continues to set new personal bests in viewership ratings.

The interview opened with the reporter saying that Gong Hyo Jin was the number one response for actors who are asked who they want to work with.

Gong Hyo Jin laughed and said, “I think that people have just gotten into the habit of saying that. It’s like how ‘Gongvely’ [combination of Gong and ‘lovely’] became a keyword for me. Once people start saying it, everyone picks it up as a habit. I think that one person may have picked me, and then people started picking me out of habit.”

The interviewer then asked her to pick her best acting partner out of all the projects she has done. She replied, “This is not a lie. I’ve been really lucky with all my projects. Because my partner was who he was for every project, I was able to bring out the best in my character. But the best acting partner… Kang Ha Neul?”

When asked why she picked Kang Ha Neul over Kim Rae Won, she joked, “Didn’t Kim Rae Won pick Park Shin Hye as his best acting partner? But I really did hear that Park Shin Hye did an amazing job when they did their drama together. Compared to that, I don’t think I did as good a job. When I read Kim Rae Won’s interviews, I’m surprised to hear how much he praises me. I thought, ‘What? Maybe I should’ve done better?'”

She continued, “Even on set, I would ask Kim Rae Won, ‘You wanted to work with me, but now your mind has changed, right? I’m pretty blah, right?’ Now that I think of it, he probably wanted me to treat him better. I am a very brusque person and I’m not good at taking care of people. And I think Kim Rae Won is the type of man who is uncomfortable with a woman who likes to take the lead.”

Gong Hyo Jin has mentioned in the past that Kang Ha Neul is her favorite acting partner because they are both bad at memorizing lines. She elaborated on this and said, “Kang Ha Neul is bad at memorizing lines. We ask each other, ‘What was the line?’ and help each other out. Until now, all my acting partners have been really good at memorizing lines. Because Kang Ha Neul and I are similar in this respect, I feel comfortable.”
