JTBC To Introduce New Wednesday-Thursday Drama Time Slot

JTBC will be adding another drama slot to their channel!

On December 9, JTBC announced, “After a long period of preparation, we decided to launch Wednesday-Thursday dramas. This is expected to officially begin during the first half of next year. ‘Ssang Gap Pocha‘ (romanized title) has been selected as the opening drama to start this new addition.”

JTBC will maintain the existing Monday-Tuesday and Friday-Saturday drama time slots and also add a Wednesday-Thursday slot.

Yoon Hee Woong, the head of JTBC’s programming division, explained, “The strategy of expanding dramas is to create an environment where we can produce more quality dramas and expand our influence on channels. As we have a foundation for showing JTBC dramas not only in Korea but also on global OTT platforms, we believe that we will be able to create an effective structure if we put forward good work.”

The decision reflects rapid changes in the media industry as a whole, considering not only viewing patterns of content but also possible expansion of channel influence through cooperation with global OTT platforms. It is also a reflection of JTBC’s will to preempt foreign markets by mass-producing excellent content.

“Ssang Gap Pocha” will star Yook Sungjae, Hwang Jung EumChoi Won Young and Lee Joon Hyuk. Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, the story centers around a mysterious pojangmacha (outdoor drinking establishment) that appears in various places and its customers.
