Update: Friends And Fans Remember SHINee’s Jonghyun On The 2nd Anniversary Of His Passing

Updated December 19 KST:

Red Velvet’s Yeri posted on her Instagram to share a message for the friends she has lost.

She wrote:

“I’m always trying to make sure that my actions don’t cause other people and myself to only remember your names with sadness. That’s why I hesitated about writing this, but I’m just going to quietly ask how you’re doing and say that I hope that you’re just eating well, sleeping well, and comfortably happy in a warm place with no worries nor tears. To all the people there, please keep watching over me from wherever you are until the day you hug me with a smile again. I always remember, and everyone else does too. I sincerely send you my love.”

On the second anniversary of his passing, friends and fans are commemorating the late SHINee member Jonghyun.

On December 18, many took to social media to share their heartfelt thoughts about Jonghyun. SHINee’s agency SM Entertainment shared a black and white photo of Jonghyun singing with the caption, “We love you.” A similar post was shared on the official SHINee Instagram account.

Dear Cloud’s Nine9, who was a close friend of Jonghyun’s, also took to Instagram. She wrote, “I’ve decided not to feel so sad so often. Beautiful people are never forgotten. That’s what I’ve learned. Though we’re far apart now, and many things have changed in me because of that distance, I believe that when time goes by, day by day, we will meet again. I will sing your songs here. In that place, you have to be happy.” In addition to her beautiful message, she shared a photo of a string of lights in the shape of a smile.

Yoo Ara, a former Hello Venus member and close friend of Jonghyun, shared another picture of Jonghyun on stage. She wrote, “A person who is beautiful at just a glance. A person whose name makes me cry at the mere sound of it. A person I won’t ever forget until the day I die. I’m so upset. I miss you terribly. Just wait… we’ll meet again later.”

Fans also made sure to commemorate Jonghyun on the anniversary of his passing. So many people took to Twitter to share their own stories of how Jonghyun had affected them, that the late singer’s name was the No. 1 trending topic worldwide as of 2 a.m. KST.
