Kim Chang Hwan And Moon Young Il From The East Light Abuse Case File Appeals To Supreme Court

The East Light’s child abuse case continues to be fought in court.

On December 26, a source from the legal profession reported that Kim Chang Hwan, CEO of Media Line Entertainment, had filed an appeal on his sentence to the Supreme Court two days prior (December 24). Media Line Entertainment producer Moon Young Il filed a joint appeal on his sentence as well.

In July of this year, Moon Young Il was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of child abuse of former The East Light members Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun. Kim Chang Hwan was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years of probation, for aiding and abetting child abuse.

Both the prosecution and the defendants appealed the sentence, setting off a new round of appeal hearings. Earlier in December, the appeal court gave their final verdict, dismissing both the appeal from the prosecution to toughen the sentence and Kim Chang Hwan’s appeal to lighten his sentence. The appeal court, however, reduced Moon Young Il’s sentence to one year and four months.

After the final appeal trial, Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun’s lawyer had stated that they would be conferring with the prosecution to consider further appeals to the Supreme Court on their end as well.
