Changmo Makes Unusual Request Of Fans After Being Accused Of Digital Chart Manipulation
Singer Changmo has made an unusual request of his fans: to stop listening to his newest song.
On January 7, the singer took to Instagram to announce that he’d been accused of digital chart manipulation. He wrote, “I’m only going to say this once. I thought I’d be congratulated when my song hit No. 1 on the charts. But instead I’ve been getting misunderstandings. I’m incredibly grateful to those fans who’ve been supportive and told me not to pay [the malicious comments] any mind. However, even though I wanted to do what my fans suggested, the truth is I’m really in a foul mood.”
He continued, “You all know what I’m referring to, right? Even though I reached No. 1 fairly, I’m getting misunderstandings, so I just want to go down [in the charts]. Everyone please do not listen to ‘METEOR.'”
The topic of digital chart manipulation has been a hot topic in the news recently, with many artists finding themselves on the receiving end of similar accusations. Changmo certainly isn’t the first to speak out against it, either, and the topic was the centerpoint of a recent episode of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions.”
Changmo’s “METEOR” was released on December 2 of last year.
