In regards to the potential for attending the Academy Awards on February 9, Park So Dam’s agency stated, “Nothing has been decided as of yet. We’re working out the schedule.” Choi Woo Shik’s agency said, “It’s highly likely that he won’t be able to attend the Academy Awards because of a schedule conflict with filming for ‘Blood of the Police Officer’ [working title].”
Choi Woo Shik and Lee Sun Gyun from “Parasite” will be attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards!
On January 15, SPOTV News reported that Choi Woo Shik and Lee Sun Gyun are attending the 26th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Los Angeles, California and that the actors will be leaving for the United States sometime this week.
Following the reports, Lee Sun Gyun’s agency HODU&U Entertainment and Choi Woo Shik’s agency Management SOOP confirmed that the two actors will be in attendance at the award ceremony.
Other cast members of “Parasite” have previously participated in various promotions, awards ceremonies, and film festivals in the United States. “Parasite” also recently became the first Korean film to win Best Foreign Language Film at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, and it received six nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards.
For the 26th SAG Awards, which will take place on January 19, the film has been nominated for Oustanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. This is the first time an Asian film has been nominated for the award. The film has been nominated alongside “Bombshell,” “The Irishman,” “Jojo Rabbit,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
The Screen Actors Guild represents approximately 160,000 actors and professionals in the American film industry, and the awards show is said to have a strong influence over the Oscars. The show is even more meaningful as the winners are selected by actors themselves.
