“Parasite” Dominates UK Box Office As No. 1 Film

“Parasite” continuing its reign at box offices all over the world.

According to Comscore, on February 24, “Parasite” beat out “Emma,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “1917,” and “Dolittle” to become the No. 1 UK box office film. Bong Joon Ho’s masterpiece was No. 3 last weekend, but rose in the ranks before taking No. 1 within 17 days of its premiere.

At the 92nd Academy Awards, “Parasite” made history by winning four awards including Best Picture, Original Screenplay, International Feature Film, and Best Directing. The film has taken the world by storm and has seen success at the box offices in many countries, including ranking as high as fourth in America and becoming the first Korean film in 15 years to reach No. 1 in Japan.

According to a report by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange which surveyed 8,000 people from 17 countries, “Parasite” was chosen as the favorite movie amongst foreigners.
