Choi Jong Hoon And Prosecution Appeal His Sentence For Attempted Bribery And Spreading Illegally-Taken Footage

Choi Jong Hoon filed an appeal over his sentence for attempted bribery and spreading illegally-taken footage.

The police previously booked Choi Jong Hoon for offering 2 million won (approximately $1,780) to the officer on the scene at the time to cover up his drunk driving incident in 2016. He was also charged with sharing illegally filmed footage. In his first trial, Choi Jong Hoon admitted to all charges of illegal filming and distribution, but claimed that he had no intention of offering bribes. Considering that he admitted most of the crimes and reflected on them, has yet to receive a final ruling on a similar crime, and expressed that his offer of bribes was impulsive, he was sentenced to one year in prison suspended for two years of probation along with 80 hours in a sexual violence rehabilitation program.

On April 2, Choi Jong Hoon filed an appeal against the ruling for the first round of trials. The prosecution also submitted an appeal on March 31, causing his case to go into a second round of trials.

Last year, Choi Jong Hoon was sentenced, alongside Jung Joon Young, to five years in prison after being convicted of charges of aggravated rape. They have both filed appeals for their sentences.
