WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon And Song Mino Talk About Artists They Want To Collab With, Song Royalties, And More

On the April 14 broadcast of MBC FM4U’s “Kim Shin Young’s Hope Song at Noon,” WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon and Song Mino appeared as guests and talked about Kim Jin Woo in the military, royalties, and more.

DJ Kim Shin Young first shared a nice story about Kang Seung Yoon. She said, “The youngest writer for this show said that when Kang Seung Yoon was a special DJ for ‘Dreaming Radio,’ he took a photo with an expensive polaroid camera and wrote a message for them.” Kang Seung Yoon responded by talking about Song Mino, saying, “Song Mino always agrees to taking photos at cafes.”

When asked if Kim Jin Woo contacted them since enlisting in the military, Song Mino said, “Kim Jin Woo did call. He actually called all three of us in the five minutes of allotted time he had. He cried, saying it was so hard.”

Kang Seung Yoon added, “I just said that Jin Woo hyung is doing well, but if you say he cried, how will the fans feel? He’s having a hard time adjusting. I think it’s hard for him because it’s just so different from what he’s used to.” Kim Shin Young revealed that her brother cried in the military, too. “It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old. If you’re in an unfamiliar place and you hear a familiar voice, it’s hard.”

Talking about the title track for WINNER’s latest album, Kim Shin Young said, “The title tracks used to be songs written by Kang Seung Yoon, but this time it’s ‘Remember,’ written by Song Mino. Kang Seung Yoon said, “My song is a b-side on the album, so I’m happy. I think WINNER’s album is even more full now.”

As the song that has brought in the most royalties for him, Song Mino named “Fiancé.” Meanwhile, Kang Seung Yoon said, “The title tracks and b-sides that have been released here and there have brought in the most for me. I have to continue releasing songs.” He added, “‘Really Really,’ which had brought in a lot of royalties, has really fallen a lot in the royalties rankings. Please listen to our new songs.”

Song Mino named some artists he’d like to collaborate with, such as Drake; A$AP Rocky; and Tyler, The Creator. Kang Seung Yoon mentioned Lauv: “Lauv followed me first on social media, so I followed back. Fans posted a video of me covering Lauv.”

Talking about their promotions for this album, the two said, “We can’t do many music shows, but we’ve filmed a lot of live content. We know that fans are wanting more. We’ll make it so that we can meet through a concert or various other channels soon. We love you.”
