Jo Kwon Explains Why He Painted His Nails Blue After Speculation It Was A Political Statement

2AM’s Jo Kwon denied speculation after getting his nails painted blue.

During Korea’s recent parliamentary election, many people have been analyzing celebrities’ outfits and social media posts to see if the colors they were wearing or highlighting could be a hint at the party they were supporting in the election.

When Jo Kwon went to the polls on April 10, he was seen wearing a blue outfit and with blue polish on his nails. In earlier photos he’s posted on his Instagram, he was also sporting the nail color. Some people have been wondering if this was a clue about his political beliefs.

On April 15, Jo Kwon posted in his Instagram stories with a description of why he got his nails painted, and it appears he was responding to the speculation.

He wrote, “Lately my nails are a hot topic… After my discharge from the military, I can’t even travel, so I needed something to change up my mood. So I dyed my hair even though it’s short, and I tried getting gel nails for the first time.”

“Since it was my first time I picked a color that wouldn’t stand out much, but people asked me if I’d hit my hand on a door threshold so they became known as ‘bruised nails,'” Jo Kwon went on to say. “Still, I liked trying it. It’s been a month since I did them. So now I’m considering what color I should try next. There’s no law that says you can’t get a manicure, right?”
