WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon Shares Candid Thoughts About Malicious Comments, Acting, And More

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon opened up about various topics during his recent guest appearance on KBS Cool FM’s “Kang Han Na’s Volume Up.”

When DJ Kang Han Na pointed out that his fans are healed by his music, Kang Seung Yoon said that he also gets comforted by his fans. He explained, “Sometimes I feel this kind of kick. There are times when haters will post malicious comments on articles and videos about me. They will say that my songs aren’t good as hurtful criticism, not constructive criticism. However, when such reactions disappear once I release my next song, I feel pleased and comforted. I get this unyielding spirit. When I’ve succeeded in changing their minds, I feel a sense of accomplishment, and that comforts me a lot. So in a way, I am also grateful for the malicious comments.”

Kang Han Na commented that he has a generous heart, and Kang Seung Yoon admitted, “But at the time, my heart aches.”

When a listener sent in a story about their experience with inferiority complex, Kang Seung Yoon shared his thoughts on the topic. He said, “In my case, if there’s someone I feel inferior to, I try to elevate that person. I praise them, saying they’re really good and that I respect them. In my mind, I’ll be thinking that I want to do better than that person someday.” Then he added, “When I raise that person up with words, they become someone I respect. I think I’m motivated by the thought that I want to catch up with them and become better than them.”

When asked if he wants to try acting again, Kang Seung Yoon said yes. Kang Seung Yoon made his acting debut prior to his singer debut through MBC’s sitcom “High Kick 3” and went on to appear in dramas like “The Producers” and “Prison Playbook” after his debut. He commented, “I’ve said this in an interview before, but I want to try out the role of a special job, like a doctor. In the case of the role of a doctor, the lines are long and difficult, but in fact, I haven’t been in many legitimate dramas or had many long lines, so I haven’t made any bloopers yet.” He continued, “If I have the chance, I want to find out if that’s because I’m good at memorizing or if it’s because I didn’t have many lines before.”

WINNER recently released their third studio album, “Remember,” which performed well on charts domestic and worldwide. Two of their members, Kim Jin Woo and Lee Seung Hoon, enlisted in the military this month.
