Watch: Song Seung Heon, Seo Ji Hye, Son Naeun, And Lee Ji Hoon Struggle With Love In 1st Teaser For New Drama
MBC’s upcoming drama “Dinner Mate” has released their first teaser video.
Based on a webtoon, “Dinner Mate” tells the love story of a man and a woman who have grown jaded about romance after experiencing painful heartbreaks. Through eating dinner together, they eventually recover their abilities to feel emotion and begin to find love over food.
Song Seung Heon plays Kim Hae Kyung, an intelligent psychiatrist and food psychologist who analyzes people by watching them eat. Seo Ji Hye takes the role of Woo Do Hee, a PD (producing director) for the web channel 2N BOX, who is whimsical, bright, and popular among her peers.
Lee Ji Hoon plays Jung Jae Hyuk, a freelance medical journalist who was also Woo Do Hee’s significant other in college. Son Naeun takes on the role of Jin No Eul, a popular social media star and fitness trainer who is also Kim Hae Kyung’s ex-girlfriend.
The teaser starts off with Woo Do Hee demanding her cheating ex-boyfriend for an explanation, and he says, “Conclusively, I don’t want to eat with you anymore.” Devastated and heartbroken, she takes a trip to Jeju Island. That’s where she first meets Kim Hae Kyung, who attempts to “rescue” her from jumping into the ocean.
Things go awry from the first meeting, and they both call each other crazy as they experience wild adventures together. The caption asks, “Is this the beginning of an ill-fated relationship? Or is this the beginning of fate?”
The plot escalates when their ex-lovers come back into their lives. Jung Jae Hyuk claims he won’t be without her anymore, while Jin No Eul boldly asks Kim Hae Kyung out. However, it seems like they’re one step late as Woo Do Hee and Kim Hae Kyung come closer together.
Towards the end of the video, Woo Do Hee asks Kim Hae Kyung if he believes in fate, and he asks her if she’ll eat dinner with him.
“Dinner Mate” will premiere in May.
