Watch: Ji Chang Wook And Kim Yoo Jung Introduce Upcoming Rom-Com At 1st Script Reading

SBS’s upcoming drama “Backstreet Rookie” released a new behind-the-scenes look at the drama’s first script reading!

Based on a hit webtoon, “Backstreet Rookie” will tell the unpredictable love story of convenience store owner Choi Dae Hyun (Ji Chang Wook) and part-time employee Jung Saet Byul (Kim Yoo Jung). The drama will be helmed by Lee Myung Woo, the producing director (PD) behind SBS’s 2019 smash hit “The Fiery Priest.”

In the new behind-the-scenes video of the drama’s script reading, the actors brighten up the atmosphere with their outgoing energy and refreshing laughter. Ji Chang Wook begins by introducing his character Choi Dae Hyun. He shares, “Choi Dae Hyun is a convenience store owner who is an ordinary and extremely innocent youth. He is slightly indecisive, but he is a very cute and upright character.”

Kim Yoo Jung also talks about her character Jung Saet Byul. She shares, “Saet Byul is a friend you can’t leave out when talking about loyalty, and she melts everyone’s hearts with her naturally lovable character. At the convenience store, she’ll mature and grow as she meets many people to give and receive comfort from.” During the script reading, both Kim Yoo Jung and Ji Chang Wook immerse themselves into their roles, skillfully portraying their characters’ diverse emotions while showcasing adorably unique chemistry.

The making-of video also introduces former Secret member Han Sun Hwa, who will be playing the role of Ji Chang Wook’s girlfriend Yoo Yeon Joo. Furthermore, Seo Ye Hwa and Yoon Soo will be playing Jung Saet Byul’s close friends Hwang Geum Bi and Cha Eun Jo. LABOUM’s Solbin will play Jung Saet Byul’s younger sister, and veteran actors Lee Byung Joon and Woo Hyun will play Choi Dae Hyun’s father and the owner of a neighborhood restaurant, respectively.

Finally, Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung conclude the making-of video by expressing their hopes for viewers to look forward to the drama.
