Kim Jung Hyun, Shin Hye Sun, And More Confirmed For New Historical Fusion Drama
“Queen Cheorin” will be a historical fusion drama about a man living in modern times whose soul gets trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon Dynasty. The drama will tell the story from a refreshing perspective while showcasing a new type of genre as it takes on the fight against gender stereotypes.
The drama is written by scriptwriters Park Gye Ok, who wrote “Doctor Prisoner” and “Inspiring Generation,” and Choi Ah Il, who wrote the 2007 film “Lovers of Six Years.” “Queen Cheorin” will be helmed by PD (producing director) Yoon Sung Shik who directed “Hwarang” and “Tower of Babel.”
Shin Hye Sun will play Kim So Yong, a queen with the soul of a male chef trapped inside her body, and plans to show off her acting skills through the dynamic character. “Queen Cheorin” will be Shin Hye Sun’s first role in a historical drama since her debut.
Meanwhile, Kim Jung Hyun will take on the role of the secretive king Cheol Jong, who may appear gentle and easygoing on the outside but is fierce on the inside. Kim Jung Hyun will showcase the duality of his character while balancing both seriousness and comedy in his acting.
Additionally, Bae Jong Ok will star as Queen Soon Won, the powerhouse of the royal court, and Kim Tae Woo will play Kim Jwa Geun, the younger brother of Queen Soon Won who has a thirst for power.
The drama’s production team commented, “This is a drama where the charms of the characters are as important as the unique subject matter. The actors, who are all sure of their own colors, will maximize the charms of their characters. You will be able to see the appeal of the perfectly new historical fusion comedy. Please look forward to it.”
“Queen Cheorin” will air on tvN, and the broadcast schedule is yet to be determined.
