Kim Da Mi, Jeon So Nee, And Byun Woo Seok Confirmed For Remake Of Chinese Film

Kim Da Mi, Jeon So Nee, and Byun Woo Seok are confirmed to star in the upcoming Korean remake of the Chinese film “SoulMate” (working title)!

The original film is a story of growth that follows 14 years of friendship, love, respect, and jealousy that two friends go through after first meeting at the age of 13. The movie instantly became a hot topic in China because it was produced by Peter Chan of “Comrades: Almost a Love Story.” For the very first time, the leading actresses also became co-recipients of the Best Actress Award at the Golden Horse Awards, a film festival held in Taiwan.

After sweeping rookie awards with her powerful acting in the film “The Witch,” Kim Da Mi rose to fame with her recent drama “Itaewon Class.” Kim Da Mi will continue to show a completely new side of her with her upcoming role in “SoulMate.”

Furthermore, viewers are anticipating Jeon So Nee’s chemistry with Kim Da Mi after her solid acting in the film “Bad Police” and recent role as Lee Bo Young‘s younger self in the drama “When My Love Blooms.” Previously, GOT7’s Jinyoung, who was Jeon So Nee’s co-star in “When My Love Blooms,” was also in talks to star in the remake.

Byun Woo Seok, who showcased his stable acting skills in “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency,” has also been added to the talented lineup. In addition to his upcoming drama “Record of Youth” with Park Bo Gum and Park So Dam in September, he will now also be working on his first film project through “SoulMate.”

The actors also shared their thoughts on starring in the new film. Kim Da Mi said, “I’m very excited to return with a film for the first time in a long while after ‘The Witch,’ and I’m highly anticipating working with director Min Yong Geun and actress Jeon So Nee. Furthermore, I’m really excited and happy to act as a charming character of a film I enjoyed.”

Jeon So Nee shared, “I’m even more happy with an anticipating heart for our fate of being able to work together on this project since it’s a project that has remained in my heart with a director I’ve looked forward to working with even before we met like this. I want to do my best to create a good project that touches the hearts of those watching the passionate moments and feelings from the characters’ dazzling days.”

Byun Woo Seok commented, “I was a fan of the original film since a long time ago. It’s an honor to be able to work with the staff and director I’ve wanted to work with and the actors I’ve wanted to act with.”

The production team of “SoulMate” revealed that their goal is to start filming in August. “SoulMate” will be helmed by director Min Yong Geun who produced “Re-encounter.”
