Seohyun, Go Kyung Pyo, And More Impress At 1st Script Reading For Upcoming JTBC Drama

JTBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “Private Lives” (literal title) has released images from its first script reading!

“Private Lives” is a refreshing drama that takes place during the current age in which people share, steal, and fabricate their private lives. The drama is about con artists mobilizing all their techniques to disclose the nation’s major “private life.” In addition to Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and Kim Young Min, the drama also stars Go Kyung Pyo who recently returned from the military, and Kim Hyo Jin who is returning to the small screen for the first time in eight years.

The first script reading took place in April, and in addition to director Nam Gun and scriptwriter Yoo Sung Yeol, actors Go Kyung Pyo, Seohyun, Kim Hyo Jin, Kim Young Min, Park Sung Geun, Song Sun Mi, Tae Won Suk, Yoo Hee Je, Jang Jin Hee, Yoon Sa Bong, Kim Min Sang, Kim Ba Da, Jang Won Hyuk, Cha Soo Yeon, Lee Hak Joo, Kim Seo Won, Lee Joo Yeon, Yoon Jung Hoon, Han Kyu Won, Kwak Min Ho, and more were present at the script reading. The script reading began with the director sharing his resolve. He announced, “During this difficult time period for everyone, I’ll produce a project that viewers can feel refreshing catharsis through.”

Go Kyung Pyo, who will be taking on the role of team manager Lee Jung Hwan of a major company, added a hint of mysteriousness to the story with his detailed portrayal of his ordinary character who appears to harbor many secrets. Seohyun also made a shocking transformation into the shameless and brazen Cha Joo Eun, a con artist who commits fraud in order to maintain a living. Since her character is a master of disguise, it appeared as if Seohyun was skillfully juggling multiple roles during the reading. Furthermore, having thoroughly studied the script beforehand, Seohyun made eye contact with all the other actors while playing her role.

Kim Hyo Jin will be playing Jung Bok Gi, an elegant and cold-hearted character who falls within the top one percent of con artists by even swindling other con artists. Despite her long break from dramas, Kim Hyo Jin flawlessly executed her charismatic role. Furthermore, Kim Young Min will be playing Jung Bok Gi’s partner Kim Jae Wook. In contrast to his usual gentle image, Kim Young Min impressed the set with his cold atmosphere when immersing himself into his role. Although Kim Jae Wook is Jung Bok Gi’s business partner in the world of crime, he also harbors a different ambition in one corner of his heart.

Park Sung Geun will be taking on the role of Cha Joo Eun’s father and con artist Cha Hyun Tae, who also raised Cha Joo Eun to be like him, and Song Sun Mi will play her mother Kim Mi Sook. The two will portray the couple’s love-hate relationship as well as their perfect chemistry when it comes to swindling others. Tae Won Suk will play Han Son who stays reliably by Cha Joo Eun’s side, and Lee Hak Joo will play the enthusiastic detective Kim Myung Hyun who continues to investigate a mysterious case until the end.

The production team of “Private Lives” shared, “It felt as if the characters’ charms were in full bloom after watching the actors’ vivid and lively acting. We became confident that we’ll be able to deliver a drama of a lifetime that will remain in one corner of the viewers’ hearts. This fall, please look forward to the con artists’ refreshing ruse that will unveil the nation’s major private life which no one knew about.”

“Private Lives” is scheduled to premiere in September following the conclusion of “Was It Love?”
