Go Ara, Lee Jae Wook, Oh Man Seok, Jang Do Yeon, And More Test Negative For COVID-19

After their potential exposure to confirmed COVID-19 cases earlier this week, several Korean stars have now confirmed that they have tested negative for the virus.

On August 21, Oh Man Seok’s agency confirmed that he had tested negative for COVID-19. The actor went to get tested because on August 17, he had been in direct contact for two hours with a makeup artist who had later tested positive for COVID-19. That makeup artist had worked on the play “Jjamppong,” which had 15 participants test positive for the virus, including actors Kim Won Hae, Seo Sung Jong, and Heo Dong Won.

Oh Man Seok’s agency added that the actor had been filming the show “Just Comedy” in the JTBC building in Sangam-dong when he learned about his direct contact. He informed the production staff right away and filming was put on hold. Although Oh Man Seok has received a negative test result, he has canceled his scheduled activities and will be in self-quarantine according to government guidelines on restricting the spread of the virus.

Seo Yi Sook, who got tested after she had come into contact with actor Heo Dong Won, has also tested negative for COVID-19. Seo Yi Sook and Heo Dong Won were co-stars on “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol,” which shut down production after Heo Dong Won’s positive test result. Seo Yi Sook’s other drama, “Startup,” also halted production as it waited for Seo Yi Sook’s results.

Kim Hee Jung also tested negative for COVID-19. Her current drama, “More than Friends,” had also halted production while it waited for her results. Kim Hee Jung had been tested because she had been in close contact with Kim Won Hae. However, it was reported that Kim Won Hae and Seo Sung Jong (the first confirmed COVID-19 case) had met on August 13, and Kim Won Hae and Kim Hee Jung had been in contact the day before on August 12, making the risk of transmission unlikely.

The members of the upcoming girl group XUM, which delayed its debut due to potential exposure, have also tested negative for the virus. One of their staff members had come into contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case on August 17. Without knowing this fact, the staff member came into contact with the XUM members on August 18. After this fact was known, the XUM members went into self-quarantine in their dorm. Although the members have now tested negative, their debut plans remain under discussion.

Comedienne Jang Do Yeon has also tested negative for COVID-19. She was tested because she met Oh Man Seok on the set of JTBC’s “Just Comedy.” This is Jang Do Yeon’s second time being tested after a junior PD on “Food Bless You” tested positive earlier this year.

Park Sung Yeon, an actress on “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol,” also got tested and received a negative result. Because most of her scenes took place somewhere else, she did not film with anyone who had come into contact with a confirmed case. However, she went to get tested at the production staff’s recommendation.

Song Sang Eun, who is in the drama “To All the Guys Who Loved Me,” has also tested negative for the virus. That drama shut down production after the news that Seo Sung Jong, one of the cast members, had tested positive. Song Sang Eun is also a cast member on the upcoming drama “Private Life,” which shut down production while waiting for the results of a staff member who had worked on another drama in which someone had tested positive. In South Korea, actors and production staff members often work on multiple productions at once.

After Heo Dong Won was confirmed to have COVID-19, the cast and crew of “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” got tested for the virus. Go Ara, Lee Jae Wook, and Kim Joo Heon have all announced that they have tested negative for COVID-19. Lee Jae Wook was not in direct contact with the case, but got tested as a safety measure. Go Ara will also be self-quarantining and refraining from scheduled activities according to guidelines despite her negative test result.
