Watch: "I-LAND" Contestants Perform Original Songs + Producers Choose The Best To Receive A Benefit

The August 28 episode of “I-LAND” featured the trainees taking on a new challenge!

“I-LAND” is currently down to 11 contestants after Geonu was eliminated last week. The trainees currently still vying for spots in a new boy group are Sunoo, Daniel, Heeseung, Sunghoon, K, Jay, Jungwon, Jake, Ni-ki, Ta-ki, and Hanbin.

After taking on a “BTS test” last week in which they performed covers of the group’s songs, the “I-LAND trainees took on a “chemistry test” in the August 28 episode.

The missionc involved the trainees performing new songs co-produced by Bang Si Hyuk, with a unit of five tasked with the song “Flicker” and a unit of six performing “Dive Into You.”

It’s been announced that the next trainee to be eliminated will be decided 100 percent by global voting. Although this means the person in the lowest ranking (No. 11) will be going home, there’s also a producer evaluation component to it. The I-LANDer in first place according to the producers’ evaluation will have their vote total from 24 hours before the voting ends doubled.

As Heeseung was in first place at the time, he was given the opportunity to decide his song and members. “It’s such a big benefit that it’s good but also a burden,” he said. He chose “Flicker” and picked Sunghoon, Jake, Jungwon, and K as his unit members. The remaining trainees therefore joined the “Dive Into You” unit.

When they staged their performances for the chemistry test, the producers including Bang Si Hyuk, Son Sung Deuk, and Pdogg praised the “Flicker” team, telling them their performance had looked perfect. Bang Si Hyuk said, “I’m not sure if it’s you guys that came up with it or someone else, but I’ve heard that you’re called the ‘Avengers.’ I think your performance was worthy of that title.”

The “Dive Into You” unit then showed their confidence as they put on an energetic performance. Bang Si Hyuk said, “I could tell that you all did your best during the performance.” Son Sung Deuk told them, “The ‘Dive Into You’ team was too focused on the global fans, so you were focusing on yourself rather than acting as a team.”

In the end, the producers chose Jake to receive the benefit. He said, “This is all thanks to the ‘Flicker’ team. Thank you.”

The second contestant to be eliminated from “I-LAND” part two will be announced in next week’s episode.
