Kim Bum Makes A Difficult Choice Involving Lee Dong Wook In "Tale Of The Nine-Tailed"

tvN’s “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” released new stills of Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum ahead of the new episode!

“Tale of the Nine-Tailed” is a fantasy action romance drama that stars Lee Dong Wook as the male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) Lee Yeon, Jo Bo Ah as producer Nam Ji Ah, and Kim Bum as Lee Yeon’s brother Lee Rang. They find themselves tangled in a mysterious case involving Imoogi (Lee Tae Ri), a serpent beast in human form.

The previous episode revealed the hidden story of Lee Yeon, who was made to kill Ah Eum in order to keep the unwritten law of the gumiho, “A fox must repay his debt.” In addition, Lee Rang’s relationship to the broadcasting company’s president (Uhm Hyo Sup) was revealed. In the past, the president saved Lee Rang from Lee Yeon’s sword. When Lee Rang asked him why he had saved him, the president said forebodingly, “The reason isn’t important. Someday, you will repay your debt. That day will come.” As he spoke, a symbol of a contract appeared and disappeared between them, raising questions among viewers.

The new stills capture a critical moment between the two brothers. After meeting in secret, Lee Yeon and Lee Rang begin to argue, each regarding the other with glares of suspicion. Soon after, Lee Yeon is seen unconscious on the floor as Lee Rang kneels by him, eyes red with tears. He lets out a howl of something similar to spite, his hardened expression leading viewers to wonder if he will end up betraying his brother to keep his pact with the president.

While filming the scene in September, Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum were said to have fully immersed themselves in their roles. When they were rehearsing the scene in which Lee Dong Wook’s character collapses, Kim Bum teared up, unable to contain his emotions. Lee Dong Wook ended up consoling him, and this emotional investment of the two actors brought the scene to completion.

The drama’s production team praised the two actors, saying, “Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum created an even more immersive scene through their portrayal of the ambivalent emotions exchanged between the two gumiho brothers.” They also upped the anticipation for the new episode as they commented, “Watch the new episode to find out whether Lee Rang will comply with the contract that will only end with his death, or if he will create a plot twist by standing by Lee Yeon’s side.”

The next episode of “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” airs on November 11 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
