ENHYPEN Announces Their Leader Ahead Of Debut

As the new boy group ENHYPEN gets ready to make their debut, a video was shared that reveals who will be their leader!

ENHYPEN is a seven-member boy group formed through the Mnet show “I-LAND,” and they’ll be debuting this month under BELIFT LAB, a joint venture between CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment.

The new video explains that ENHYPEN’s leader selection process included the members being interviewed and they took various tests. Heeseung and Jungwon were chosen as the two candidates.

The group was reminded by a staff member that Heeseung is already also the oldest member of the group and the core of their performance, and therefore there were some concerns about having him take on another role as well.

It was announced that after speaking to Heeseung and Jungwon themselves, the staff and members came to the decision that Jungwon will be ENHYPEN’s leader.

The group clapped and Heeseung explained, “I thought I could offer help in more areas if I were in the role of the eldest and a fellow member rather than the leader.” He went on to encourage the other members to also help their leader and take responsibility with their own sense of leadership so that the group can succeed.

Jungwon said he will do his best and the members went on to speak individually about their thoughts, share love for Jungwon, and promise to help and support him.

Jungwon said, “I didn’t know I would become the leader, it seems a little sudden. Now I need to feel a sense of responsibility. I want to be a leader who doesn’t feel distant to them. I want all six members to freely offer their opinions and I will too, so let’s work hard together.”
