Girl’s Day’s Hyeri And Jang Ki Yong Confirmed For New Fantasy Drama
Titled “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” the tvN drama is based on a webtoon about a female college student named Lee Dam who accidentally swallows the marble of a male gumiho (a mythological nine-tailed fox) named Shin Woo Yeo, who was close to achieving his goal of becoming human. If a human swallows the marble, they can only live for one year, and the marble will break, preventing the gumiho from becoming human. Thus, Shin Woo Yeo suggests living together to Lee Dam, beginning their unexpected romance.
Jang Ki Yong will take the role of Shin Woo Yeo, a gumiho with good looks, sturdy physique, good manners, and a sweet charm who has lived for 999 years. Following his recent projects “Search: WWW” and “Born Again,” viewers are highly anticipating Jang Ki Yong’s transformation in this upcoming drama.
Hyeri will be starring as Lee Dam, a college student who doesn’t hesitate to speak the truth. She is a firm, straightforward person who is very self-objective, which may be the reason she has never been in a relationship before. Previously, Hyeri impressed in dramas, such as “Reply 1988” and “Two Cops.”
This upcoming drama will be penned by writers Baek Sun Woo and Choi Bo Rim, who wrote the webtoon-turned-drama “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” and helmed by director Nam Sung Woo, who produced “Kkondae Intern.”
The production team stated, “We are very happy to be bringing the popular webtoon ‘My Roommate Is a Gumiho,’ which received many requests to be turned into a drama, to life. Jang Ki Yong and Hyeri have been cast for the lead roles. Expectations are high because they are very synchronized with the characters they’ll play. Please look forward to ‘My Roommate Is a Gumiho.'”
The drama will air in 2021.
