4 Unforgettable "True Beauty" Episode Endings That Gave Viewers Butterflies

tvN’s “True Beauty” has been keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with the exciting—and swoon-worthy—endings to each of its episodes!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy starring Moon Ga Young as Lim Ju Gyeong, a girl who tries to combat her insecurities about her looks through her makeup skills, which turn her into a “goddess” at school. ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo stars as Lee Su Ho, a popular student who secretly harbors his own emotional wounds, while Hwang In Yeop plays Han Seo Jun, an untamable rebel with a surprisingly warm heart.

In the first weeks of its run, the new drama has managed to wrap up each of its episodes with an ending that not only made viewers’ hearts skip a beat, but also left them dying to find out what would happen next.

1. Episode 1: Lim Ju Gyeong and Lee Su Ho’s crash-landing in the comic book store

At the end of the drama’s first episode, Lim Ju Gyeong and Lee Su Ho ran into each other again—literally—when they fought over the same comic book without recognizing one another. After Lim Ju Gyeong tripped and fell on top of Lee Su Ho, they found themselves in almost the exact same position that they’d been in on the rooftop scene earlier on in the episode, when Lee Su Ho had grabbed her and pulled her to safety away from the edge.

The two characters’ sudden proximity not only made viewers’ hearts flutter, but left them with an intriguing cliffhanger as a glimmer of recognition sparked in Lee Su Ho’s eyes: did Lee Su Ho recognize Lim Ju Gyeong from school?

2. Episode 2: Lee Su Ho valiantly coming to Lim Ju Gyeong’s rescue at school

Towards the end of the second episode, Lim Ju Gyeong suddenly found herself at risk of exposing her bare face to the entire school. After one of her classmates accidentally hit her in the face with a cake, Lim Ju Gyeong’s friends rushed to help her clean up and offered to wipe her face for her. Surrounded by her concerned friends and terrified that they would abandon her once they saw her without makeup, Lim Ju Gyeong began to panic that there was no way out.

However, to Lim Ju Gyeong’s shock, Lee Su Ho suddenly saved her by taking off his jacket and using it to hide her while escorting her to the bathroom. His thoughtful gesture was all the more surprising because of its stark contrast to his typical frosty demeanor at school, surprising both Lim Ju Gyeong—and viewers— into seeing him in a different, more romantic light.

3. Episode 4: The beginning of a tense love triangle

At the end of the fourth episode, Han Seo Jun upset Lee Su Ho by suddenly tossing Lim Ju Gyeong the keys to his motorcycle and declaring, “Starting from today, I’m only going to listen to you.” If that wasn’t enough to get viewers’ hearts racing, Lee Su Ho kicked things up a notch when he grabbed Lim Ju Gyeong by the arm and pleaded with her not to go after Han Seo Jun.

With both Han Seo Jun and Lee Su Ho beginning to openly express their interest in Lim Ju Gyeong, the dramatic ending signaled the start of a heated love triangle between the three leads.

4. Episode 6: The chaotic karaoke fight scene

Despite the bad blood between them, Lee Su Ho and Han Seo Jun teamed up to rescue Lim Ju Gyeong at the end of the drama’s latest episode. After Lim Ju Gyeong was kidnapped by a group of delinquents who mistakenly believed she was Han Seo Jun’s girlfriend, their leader Lee Sung Yong (played by Shin Jae Hwi) called Han Seo Jun to let him know they had her.

As Lee Su Ho happened to be with Han Seo Jun when he got the call, the two former friends raced together to the karaoke bar where the delinquents were holding Lim Ju Gyeong captive—and didn’t hesitate to throw a few punches to save her. Amidst the chaotic brawl, the episode ended with Han Seo Jun closely watching Lim Ju Gyeong, whose eyes were fixed entirely on Lee Su Ho. The suspenseful shot of the three characters’ gazes all facing different directions left viewers curious to find out how their love triangle would play out in the future.
