On January 25, D.O. was officially discharged from his mandatory military service in accordance with COVID-19 protocol. This means he was discharged directly from his final leave without returning to the base.

D.O. expressed his gratitude to fans through a handwritten message posted on the fan community Lysn. His message read, “I’ve been discharged from the military. Thank you for waiting for such a long time. I’ll work hard. Stay healthy everyone!”

D.O. enlisted in July 2019 as an active duty soldier and participated in the military musical “Return: The Promise of the Day” (literal title) during his service. He is the second member to complete his military duty after Xiumin, who was discharged the previous month.
