VIXX's Hyuk Talks About Juggling Acting And Music + Describes The Lifetime Job He Wants To Have

VIXX’s Hyuk recently participated in an interview to talk about his new film “Croissant.”

“Croissant” is a youth melodrama about a patissier who is passionate about the job she loves and a civil service exam student who doesn’t have any dreams. Hyuk stars as Hee Joon, the directionless student who has had the misfortune of all his companies going out of business as soon as he started working there. As a result, he decides to study for the civil service exam, figuring that this is a job that can’t go out of business.

Hyuk said, “Hee Joon is a type of character that I’ve never played before. He’s very timid and shy and doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence. It felt fresh to try on a personality like this. I took on the role thinking that he might motivate other youths in their 20s and 30s who don’t have anything specific they want to do but are in the process of finding their dream.”

He added, “My own personality is the complete opposite of Hee Joon’s. I knew what I wanted to do since I was a kid and went straight for my debut. I’m still running on the path I chose. I’m the proactive type, so I’m completely different from Hee Joon.”

About working with Nam Bo Ra, he said, “She is always overflowing with energy, so she gave us all a boost on set. Even when it was hot and tiring, I was able to have fun because of her. It was the same with the director. Since we’re in the same agency, we were able to exchange opinions about acting and things from the very start of production.”

Asked to describe his “forever” job, or the job he wants to have for the rest of his life, Hyuk said, “I think that expressing something or giving inspiration to others will be my ‘forever’ job. If it’s music, it’s music, and if it’s acting, it’s acting. I can’t say anything more specific than that. The ‘main’ job might change depending on the situation. But from a results perspective, I want to give other people a sense of healing or influence through what I do. I think that will be the job I have for the rest of my life. The question is in what areas I can do that best.”

He shared that he intends to keep juggling acting and music and said, “I am still lacking in a lot of areas when it comes to expressing things and influencing people. There are a lot of levels that I have to climb, so I’m starting one by one. I’ve done music for a long time, and it’s part of my daily life now. I want to express what I can and give people what influence I can. I don’t want to lose either of them. I have a lot of interest in many things. I was looking at my music video ‘Camellia‘ when realized that even the clothes, the story, and the composition of a music video could send a message. If an opportunity arises, I’d like to try and spread this influence and healing through a personal YouTube channel.”
