Choi Kang Hee Shares Funny Story About Why She Couldn't Get Close To Kim Hee Sun

On January 30, Choi Kang Hee, Kim Young Kwang, and Eum Moon Suk, the stars of the upcoming drama “Hello, Me!“, appeared on JTBC’s “Ask Us Anything.”

During the episode, the cast mentioned that Choi Kang Hee was famous for looking younger than her age. (The actress was born in 1977 and is 43 in international age.) In response, she shared a story about how her “young face” kept her from getting close to fellow actress Kim Hee Sun.

“I think that if your chin and philtrum are short, then you look younger,” Choi Kang Hee said. “I met Kim Hee Sun on set once and she asked, ‘How old are you?’ in informal speech. [Because Korean distinguishes between formal and informal speech, the implication is that Kim Hee Sun thought Choi Kang Hee was younger than her.] I said formally, ‘We’re the same age,’ and after that, she didn’t speak to me much. So we couldn’t become close.”

Kim Hee Sun and Choi Kang Hee starred together in the 2001 film “Wanee & Junah.”

Also on the show, Kim Young Kwang shared how a mistake turned into a fortuitous chance for him during his modeling career. “I was placed at the very end of a fashion show, but I walked slower than the other model,” he said. “At the finale of a show, all the models walk on the runway together before it ends, but I was too late and was restrained from going up. But suddenly the designer pushed me from behind and told me to go up. I went up later than everyone else and ended up being the only one on the runway.”
