NU'EST Talks About Participating In Production Of First Full-Length Album In 7 Years

On April 19, NU’EST held a showcase for their new album “Romanticize,” the group’s first full-length album in seven years.

JR said, “It’s been a while since we released any album, but it’s been seven years since we released a full-length album. I’m really nervous and excited. I think that we’ll be able to show a lot of diverse sides of ourselves since it’s an album that we’ve been preparing for a long time.”

Minhyun said, “We didn’t take a special approach [to the studio album]. Since it was our first album in a while, we worked with the mindset of gifting our fans with even better music. We wanted to share more stories, so we accumulated a lot of b-side tracks, and it was about time for us to do a full-length album, so that’s how it became like that.”

He added, “In the studio album we released seven years ago, the members had very little participation in the production process. This time, Baekho was at the center of album production and each member tried to show his own thoughts in their solo tracks. We grew a lot over the past seven years.”

Aron, who recently took a hiatus from activities due to anxiety, said, “I took a break and spent my time resting. I had a lot of discussions with the agency and the members about promotions. They respected my wishes and it was decided that I would promote flexibly without putting strain on my health. I’m looking forward to it, since it’s our first comeback in a while.” Ren added, “I’m glad that we’re promoting together. We could feel his absence a lot. I’m grateful that we’re able to promote together again.”

Each of the members has a solo track on the album. Baekho said, “Each member has their own clear, unique personality. It’s to the point that you can wonder how one group can be formed of such different people. This ‘difference’ was so fun that we wanted to show it to fans through our music. We thought about how to create solo music that would show our individual personalities.” Minhyun added, “Under the broad theme of ‘romanticize,’ each of the members expressed what they wanted.”

Ren said, “It took me a long time to record my song. I re-recorded it several times. The last time I recorded, I started around 11 p.m. and went until 8 a.m. I recorded without stopping, and when it was finally over and I went home, the sun had risen. I got a headache from recording too long, but it was kind of romantic in its own right.” JR said, “I’m a rapper, but this was a good chance for me to sing. I felt a bit giddy sometimes when I recorded. As I worked on solo music, I realized how great it was to promote with members who fill up the parts that I lack.”
