SEVENTEEN's Hoshi Donates 100 Million Won To Meaningful Cause For His Birthday

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi celebrated his birthday by making a generous donation to his hometown!

The Community Chest of Gyeonggi has revealed that last week, Hoshi donated 100 million won (approximately $89,423) to the Namyangju Welfare Foundation to commemorate his birthday (June 15). As a result of his generous donation, he is now an official registered member of the Community Chest of Korea’s Honor Society—a status awarded to donors who have contributed over 100 million won.

Hoshi decided to make his donation after hearing that, as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both individual and corporate donations to the foundation have been shrinking—making things harder than ever for Namyangju residents in dire need of help.

Namyangju Mayor Cho Kwang Han commented, “I believe that the influence and ripple effect of a famous public figure making this kind of donation is substantial. Thank you [to Hoshi] for not forgetting about local society and conveying your warm feelings. We will work even harder to find [social] blind spots and help those in need.”

Hoshi has consistently shown support for charitable causes over the years: last autumn, he donated a scholarship to his alma mater to help students in need.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is currently gearing up to make a comeback on June 18 with their eighth mini album “Your Choice.” Check out their latest teasers here!
