Song Ji Hyo Reveals To “Amazing Saturday” Cast That Her Knowledge Of Trendy Music Stopped In The 1990s

On the July 17 episode of tvN’s “Amazing Saturday,” Song Ji Hyo and Chae Jong Hyeop appeared as guests.

The two actors are starring together in the tving drama “The Witch’s Diner.” Boom, the host of “Amazing Saturday,” said, “Everyone, you can expect a difficult voyage. Song Ji Hyo is nicknamed ‘Dam Ji Hyo’ because she’s built up a wall between herself and the world. She doesn’t have a lot of interest in what goes on in the world and doesn’t really listen to music.”

Song Ji Hyo said, “I don’t really like music,” and when Park Na Rae asked her what was the most “recent” or “trendy” song she had listened to, replied, “Fin.K.L?” Fin.K.L was a popular first-generation girl group that debuted in 1998. The members have been mostly active as solo artists since 2005.

Boom said, “But I heard that you studied to come here. Have you listened to the latest song by aespa?” Song Ji Hyo looked completely clueless and said, “I’ll know them from now on.” She asked Chae Jong Hyeop if he knew them, but he said he didn’t. When asked what kind of music he listened to, he said, “I listen to [American] pop music. I’ve been listening to Tayo Sound these days.”

The “Amazing Saturday” cast were unfamiliar with American pop music and said, “Is there pop music in ‘Tayo?'”, referring to the popular children’s animation show. Chae Jong Hyeop explained, “I studied abroad in South Africa until I was 21.”

Fortunately for Song Ji Hyo, the mission was for one of Turbo’s songs, a group mostly active in the 1990s that includes her long-time “Running Man” castmate Kim Jong Kook.
