Boy Group Leader And Solo Artist Unexpectedly Fools “The King Of Mask Singer” Panel About His Identity
On the August 22 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” eight new contestants took on the first round in their quest for the crown.
The first match-up of Round 1 was between “Our House” and “Toad’s House” who sang a duet to Crush’s “Fall.” Our House showed off his soft and gentle vocals, while Toad’s House showed his warm vocal tone.
In the end, Our House won with one vote’s difference (11 votes to 10) and moved on to Round 2. Singing Gummy’s “We Should Have Been Friends,” Toad’s House unmasked to reveal himself as GOT7’s JAY B.
JAY B, who started out in b-boying, said, “I didn’t expect to hear that I couldn’t dance on ‘The King of Mask Singer.’ When I was asked to dance the first time, it was a song by 2PM, my former agency seniors, so I thought that I shouldn’t dance too well to it. But the second time, I went all-out in dancing, but I was tiffed to hear, ‘This person isn’t a singer.'”
The person who said this was Kim Gu Ra, who replied in embarrassment, “It means that your strategy worked really well.”
JAY B added, “I moved recently to H1GHR MUSIC, but I saw that pH-1 got zero votes when he was here. I worried about what would happen if I also got zero votes. I was a bit nervous coming here. I’ve mostly promoted with dance tracks, so I thought of this as a new challenge and came prepared with ballads.”
JAY B is currently preparing to release his first solo mini album since moving agencies to H1GHR MUSIC.
