2021 The Fact Music Awards Adds Trot Singer Lim Young Woong To Its Lineup

On September 15, 2021 The Fact Music Awards (2021 TMA) announced a new addition to its lineup.

According to the organizing committee, Lim Young Woong will be attending the awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on October 2.

Lim Young Woong is a trot singer who made his debut in 2016. He rose to stardom when he won the TV Chosun trot audition program “Mister Trot,” which set the record for the highest-ever viewership ratings on cable television. His most recent song, “My Starry Love,” released in March 2021, was the first trot song to win on music shows in several years.

Although this will be Lim Young Woong’s first time attending the award ceremony, he won last year’s inaugural Fan N Star Trot Popularity Award Prize at the 2020 The Fact Music Awards.

Trot is a genre of Korean pop music known for its distinctive singing style with vocal inflections and was particularly popular in the 1960s and 70s. The genre has recently seen a resurgence in South Korea with the popularity of TV Chosun’s “Miss Trot” and “Mister Trot” series.

The rest of the lineup for 2021 TMA includes BTS, SEVENTEEN, ITZY, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, THE BOYZ, Super Junior, Oh My Girl, Brave Girls, ENHYPEN, ASTRO, STAYC, Hwang Chi Yeol, Kang Daniel, CRAVITY, and Weeekly.

Like last year’s show, 2021 TMA will be an “on-tact” ceremony due to COVID-19 precautions, meaning that it will take place online and “contact-free.”
