CL Talks About The Moment She Found Out 2NE1 Was Disbanding Through News Reports

CL has opened up about the moment when she first learned of 2NE1’s disbandment.

During a recent interview with AP Entertainment, the interviewer asked CL, “My colleague interviewed Minzy ages ago, and she said that she found out about the disbandment through media. How did you find out?”

CL replied with an awkward laugh, “Well… I did too, to be honest.”

Confirming that she’d first heard the news through the media, the singer became visibly emotional as she went on to recall, “I was at a Thanksgiving dinner, and my phone blew up. But yeah, those situations… That was very heartbreaking for me.”

“But like I said, now I have a lot of freedom and control over at least what I choose to do,” she continued, “so it’s a very exciting chapter for me.”

After seven years together, 2NE1 officially disbanded in November 2016. However, in the years since, the four members have often spoken about wanting to get back together for a new release at some point in the future.
