BLACKPINK's Rosé And Lisa, aespa, TXT, And ONEUS Make Genius's

The Genius community has shared its picks for the “50 Best Songs of 2021,” and several K-pop artists made the list!

On December 29 local time, Genius published its annual list of “the year’s best songs,” stretching across all genres for what its community selected as “the most memorable tracks of 2021.”

Check out the five K-pop songs that made it onto the list below!

8. BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s “GONE”

BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s solo B-side “GONE” came in at No. 8, making it the highest-ranking K-pop song on the list. Praising “Rosé’s shimmering vocal delivery and witty lyrics that almost feel like a noir comedy movie,” Saquib Syed writes that the “heartfelt anthem… portrays a unique kind of vulnerability, not only in terms of its lyrics but also in its focus on Rosé’s stellar vocals.”

12. aespa’s “Next Level”

aespa’s “Next Level” made the list at No. 12, with Syed comparing the “experimental track” to “the energy and dynamic of genre-bending K-pop hit ‘I Got A Boy‘ by Girls’ Generation.” Syed notes, “The song began as a remix of A$ton Wyld’s song of the same name, but the group took it to the next level, adding multiple beat and flow switches throughout.”

17. ONEUS’s “LUNA”

ONEUS’s “LUNA,” which Syed describes as “a traditional Korean song infused with nu disco and city-pop beats,” claimed the No. 17 spot on this year’s list. Pointing out the song’s unique blend of “many different cultures,” Syed praises “LUNA” as “an infectious pop hit unlike any of you’ve heard before.”

22. TXT’s “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)”

TXT’s “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” took No. 22 on the list, described as a “powerful anthem” that makes good use of “the group’s impressive vocal range.” siannve writes, “[TXT] took the pop-rock music scene by storm, and they showed that it suits them exceptionally well.”

45. BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s “LALISA”

Finally, BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s solo debut track “LALISA” made the list at No. 45. (Only the top 25 songs on Genius’s list were accompanied by reviews—but no explanation is needed for why Lisa’s long-awaited solo debut was one of the hottest songs of the year.)

Congratulations to all the artists that made the list!
