Wanting to properly showcase how hard she worked during the 12 years she spent as a trainee, Moon Sua highlighted her confident vocal ability with a performance of BTS’s “The Truth Untold,” accompanied by an orchestra.

For the song that describes her best, Kim Seonyou picked Younha’s “WINTER FLOWER” and filled up the stage with her powerful voice.

The voice readers’ votes were divided three to two, with Kim Seonyou being named the winner. She excitedly shared, “After debuting, this is the first time I’ve performed on my own. I’m so happy and thankful to have received such good results.”

The round’s final battle featured Moonbyul and JooE. Although JooE was initially feeling pressured after being chosen as Moonbyul’s opponent, she shared a different perspective, saying, “This is actually better. It’s exciting if the underdog wins.”

Moonbyul explained that she wanted to appear on “The Second World” to showcase her singing, but also impressed with her bass, guitar, and drumming skills while performing DAY6’s “Congratulations.”

Unfortunately, eight days before the competition, JooE was diagnosed with COVID-19, leaving her only one day to practice after being released from quarantine. As a result, JooE had to rehearse her performance of Jessie J’s “Domino” at home by herself. On top of these difficult circumstances, JooE ran into numerous hurdles during rehearsals but stayed strong to complete her performance well.

Ultimately, Moonbyul won all five of the voice readers’ votes and she tearfully commented, “I felt a lot of pressure because MAMAMOO is a vocal group. Everyone said such kind words and I thought that in the future, I’d have to sing with a lot more confidence. Thank you so much.” Given how emotional she was, Moonbyul explained, “[I realized] I’m living well. I tried this and that by myself but I thought that I’m taking one step forward well which is why I think I teared up.”

The final ranking for Round 1 is as follows:

  1. Moonbyul
  2. Mimi
  3. Kim Seonyou
