BTS's Jin Ties PSY's Record For Highest Debut By Korean-Language Solo Song On UK's Official Singles Chart
BTS’s Jin has earned his first solo entry on the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart!
On November 4 local time, Jin’s first official solo single “The Astronaut” entered several of the United Kingdom’s Official Charts (which are typically regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s U.S. charts).
For the week of November 4 to 10, “The Astronaut” debuted at No. 61 on the Official Singles Chart, matching PSY‘s record for the highest-ranking debut by any Korean-language solo song in history. (PSY’s hit songs “Gangnam Style,” “Gentleman,” and “That That” all entered the chart at No. 61.)
Including English-language songs, Jin is now tied with PSY for the third-highest debut on the chart by a Korean solo artist, bested only by his own bandmate Jungkook (whose Charlie Puth collab “Left and Right” debuted at No. 41) and BLACKPINK‘s Rosé (whose solo debut track “On The Ground” entered the chart at No. 43).
“The Astronaut” also swept the No. 2 spot on both the Official Singles Sales Chart and the Official Singles Downloads Chart this week.
Congratulations to Jin on his impressive achievement!
