OMEGA X's Agency Apologizes For Controversy + Announces CEO Has Resigned

OMEGA X’s agency has announced that their CEO has officially resigned.

Last month, one of OMEGA X’s fans reported on Twitter that they had seen the CEO of the group’s agency, SPIRE Entertainment, hitting the members after their concert in Los Angeles. The fan also posted an audio recording of the CEO yelling at the group.

SPIRE Entertainment initially released a statement claiming that OMEGA X and the agency had “resolved all their misunderstandings,” and the CEO also denied that any abuse had taken place in a phone call with SBS News. However, in the same report, SBS News aired video footage of the Los Angeles incident captured in the whistleblowing fan’s audio recording, which clearly appeared to be at odds with the CEO’s claims.

Eventually on November 6, OMEGA X broke their silence by opening an Instagram account unattached to SPIRE Entertainment and sharing a joint statement to thank fans for their support, discuss their future plans, and explain why it took some time to speak up.

On November 7, SPIRE Entertainment responded to OMEGA X’s joint statement and the growing controversy with an apology and an announcement that their agency CEO had resigned.

Read their full English statement below:

Hello, this is SPIRE Entertainment.

First of all, we deeply apologize to all OMEGA X members, families, fans, and everyone whose feelings were hurt by an unfortunate event that has happened recently.

SPIRE Entertainment takes the full responsibility and announce that the CEO who’s responsible for this matter has resigned. We’d also like to apologize for not responding well and disappointing many fans with inadequate response to the situation.

We will take in all your advices and comments to do our best to prevent this kind of things from happening again and focus on providing a better environment for the members so that they can focus only on the artists’ activities. Please continue supporting OMEGA X, and we promise to try our best to be back with better news.

Thank you.

OMEGA X, who made their debut last year, is a project group consisting entirely of idols who have already debuted in other groups (most of which have disbanded). Eight of the group’s 11 members have also appeared on audition programs or survival shows such as Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2,” KBS 2TV’s “The Unit,” JTBC’s “MIXNINE,” and MBC’s “Under 19.”
