BTS Earns Their 3rd Triple Platinum RIAJ Certification In Japan For Streaming + NewJeans Goes Gold For 1st Time

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

In the RIAJ’s newly announced batch of certifications, both BTS and NewJeans earned multiple official platinum certifications for streaming.

BTS’s 2021 hit “Permission to Dance” received a triple platinum certification after surpassing 300 million streams, making it the group’s third song to achieve the feat after “Dynamite” and “Butter.”

BTS’s 2018 B-side “I’m Fine” also received a gold certification for reaching 50 million streams.

Meanwhile, NewJeans earned their first-ever RIAJ streaming certifications for their songs “Hype Boy” and “Ditto,” both of which were officially certified gold after surpassing 50 million streams each.

Congratulations to both BTS and NewJeans!
