DKZ's Agency Announces Legal Action Against Malicious Commenters

DKZ’s agency has warned against people who create malicious posts.

On April 6, Dongyo Entertainment released the following statement:

Hello.

This is Dongyo Entertainment.

First off, we sincerely want to express our gratitude to the fans who always send lots of love to DKZ.

Recently, defamation, insults, sexual harassment, the spread of false information, and ill-intentioned criticism about our artists online have caused emotional distress to not only the artists, but also to their fans.

We have secured data and evidence that we’ve gathered internally through self-monitoring as well as from reports provided by fans, and last year, we have also filed criminal complaints through a law firm against the perpetrators who spread groundless rumors and malicious posts about our artists.

We’d like to inform you that in order to protect our artists, we will continue to thoroughly monitor and keep taking all possible legal action without settlement or leniency against those who spread false facts and malicious comments regarding our agency artists.

In the case that you discover any acts or cases of insults or defamation against our artist, please report them.

Once again, we would like to express our deep gratitude to fans who always show support and love for our company and DKZ. We will continue to do everything we can to protect the rights and interests of our agency artists.

Thank you.

Previously, member Kyoungyoon was embroiled in a controversy for his parents’ affiliation with the JMS cult spotlighted in the recent documentary “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal.”

“In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal” is a new documentary series exposing four cult leaders and their horrifying practices. One of the cults covered in the series is JMS Providence (also known as the Christian Gospel Mission), founded by leader and convicted rapist Jung Myung Seok, who is described as having groomed and sexually exploited many of his young female followers.

In the wake of the documentary’s popularity, a list of addresses allegedly affiliated with the JMS cult began spreading online, and one in particular drew attention for being the address of a café run by Kyoungyoon’s parents.

Shortly after the initial reports, DKZ’s agency Dongyo Entertainment shared an official statement to share that Kyoungyoon had initially “believed that the organization in question was simply an ordinary church that his parents were attending, and he had never come across or been aware of the information in the [docuseries].” The agency added that the family has ceased business operations, left the church, and will have no association with it moving forward. After the agency’s statement, Kyoungyoon had also come forward in an interview with Dispatch to detail his experience with JMS cult and share an apology.
