BLACKPINK's Jisoo Becomes 1st Female K-Pop Soloist To Make Top 40 Debut On UK Official Charts With "FLOWER"

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has made history on the UK Official Charts as the first Korean female soloist to make a Top 40 debut!

On April 7 local time, the United Kingdom’s Official Charts announced that Jisoo’s solo debut track “FLOWER” had debuted at No. 38 on the UK Official Singles Chart for the week of April 7 to April 13!

The UK Official Singles Chart ranks the most popular songs in the United Kingdom, while the UK Official Charts are often regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s U.S. charts.

This makes Jisoo only the second Korean female soloist to enter the UK Official Singles Chart after her BLACKPINK bandmate Rosé, who made a historic chart debut at No. 43 with “On The Ground” in March 2021. Additionally, Jisoo’s debut now marks the highest rank for a K-pop female soloist on this chart and makes her the first to ever place within the Top 40.

Among all K-pop soloists, Jisoo has now become the third to score a Top 40 debut after BTS’s Jimin and J-Hope, who both achieved this feat earlier this year.

BLACKPINK previously made history as the first K-pop girl group ever to enter the Official Singles Chart with “DDU-DU DDU-DU” back in 2018. Since then, the group has scored eight UK Top 40 singles including “Kiss and Make Up,” “Kill This Love,” “How You Like That,” “Ice Cream,” “Lovesick Girls,” “Sour Candy,” “Pink Venom,” and “Shut Down.”
