BLACKPINK's Jennie Invited To 76th Cannes Film Festival + Participation Yet To Be Decided
Starring BLACKPINK’s Jennie, HBO’s new series “The Idol” was invited to the Cannes Film Festival for the Out of Competition section!
On April 13 (local time), the 76th Cannes Film Festival announced the invited productions of this year, and among them, “The Idol” was included in the Out of Competition category.
Created by The Weeknd and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, “The Idol” is a new series about a pop singer named Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) who strikes up a romance with an enigmatic cult leader (The Weeknd). The series, which marks Jennie’s acting debut, is reported to premiere out of competition at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May 2023.
On whether Jennie will be attending the event, YG Entertainment remarked, “She was invited. Whether she will attend or not is yet to be decided.”
More Korean films including “Hopeless” starring Song Joong Ki and “Cobweb” starring Song Kang Ho will also be screening in the Un Certain Regard section and Out of Competition, respectively.
